And be Ready Always to Give an Answer

Last month, a few of us went over to Leyland’s 10ofThose headquarters to hear Roger Carswell talk about personal evangelism. In his warm and affable manner, he reminded us of the need to witness for Christ and gave us some tips on how to do it. I resolved to be a better witness and I prayed that night for an opportunity.

A few day later, someone I know approached me and asked if I was afraid of dying, somewhat unexpectedly. I said that I was not; as a Christian I believe in the afterlife and that such things did not frighten me. I was asked if I would not be afraid to become terminally ill. I said that I was not while acknowledging that such things are easier said than done.

“That’s very interesting. Can we talk more about this?” was the reply. Ask the Lord for opportunities, and He’ll send them.

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear. 1 Peter 3:15
