Barnoldswick Congregational Church

When I take the short journey to chapel three times per week, I pass a care home called Abbeyfield. It was built on the site of the Barnoldswick Congregational Chapel, demolished around 1975. I'm curious to find out more about this fellowship. It isn't recorded in the 1930 Dales Congregational Churches, even though it lay in the midst of them. The only records immediately available online state that

Brief History

1911 Temporary chapel off Gisburn Road
1921 Chapel built nearby on Gisburn Road
1981 ? Chapel closed
Demolished .. There is now the Abbeyfield Home built on the site. The foundation stones of 1921 form part of the gateposts

I'm curious to discover more.
