Capernwray Evangelical Church

Today I visited the north of the county and attended Capernwray Evangelical Church. It's located between Carnforth and Kirkby Lonsdale at Over Kellett. It's housed in the old private chapel for nearby Capernwray Hall Bible College and is surrounded by lush pasture and pretty woods.

The fellowship was founded forty or so years ago by Methodists based at nearby Arkholme. There was much dissatisfaction with Lancashire Methodism among evangelicals in the 1970s, and liberal teaching cost it many good members.

It is a great family church and the remains of the recent children's holidays club were still evident. They're a warm fellowship and have a real passion for the gospel.
