Capital Trump

Donald Trump has caused another commotion:

The Arab League called it "a dangerous measure that would have repercussions".

Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh called it “conspiracy”.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said the decision was "irresponsible."

Pope Francis said: "I cannot silence my deep concern over the situation that has emerged in recent days.”

French President Emmanuel Macron said it was "regrettable".

What has he done to unite so much of the world against him? He has recognised Jerusalem as Israel’s capital. The Holy Land is too complicated an issue to attempt to explain in this blog, but his announcement represents a bolster for Israelis and a blow to Palestinians who wish to keep Jerusalem as separate as possible from the Jewish state.

The Holy City seems to be Israel’s capital in all but name anyway; above is the Knesset, Israel’s parliament, which I photographed in Jerusalem this summer. I am looking forward to the day when Messiah Himself will make Jerusalem His capital:

I will make the lame a remnant,

And the outcast a strong nation;

So the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion

From now on, even forever.
