Honour the Face of the Old Man

Don’t you agree that this is one of the saddest pictures you’ve seen? The little girl will regret it one day, when she’s older and wiser. I wish I had spent more time with elderly relatives, but the prospect of playing out and climbing trees generally made me moan and object to having to visit old folk during the holidays. Let us cherish people while they are still with us and value them for who they are. One day, the little girl will be an old woman and her own grandchild may disregard her in like-manner.

You shall stand up before the grey head and honour the face of an old man, and you shall fear your God: I am the Lord. Leviticus 19:32.
