Ofsted: The State's New Regulator of Religion?

Considering Her Majesty’s Government has no majority and has begun the biggest re-negotiation in our history, it still finds the time to plan for the inspection of church youth work. Ofsted, the discredited school inspection agency which is despised by most teachers, is charged with ensuring that church youth groups and Christian organisations working with young people promote ‘British Values’. I happen to support British Values, but theological instruction that does not promote violence is frankly none of the government’s business. Ofsted must not be allowed to become the state regulator of religion.

I’ve once again written to the chapel’s MP, Nigel Evans, and my own, Andrew Stephenson, asking them to stop this nonsense. I have more confidence in the latter than the former, but I shall await their replies, and actions, with interest.
