Walkden Congregational Church

I attended a meeting today at Walkden Congregational Church, not far from Salford in Greater Manchester. The church seems to be theologically rather more liberal than we at Martin Top, but true Congregational churches are independent of each other, and set their own agenda.

Walkden seems to be a busy little town, and the church has an active children's work and a fantastic sports hall. The building appears to be a giant cube in the town centre. I imagine it once had a grander, Victorian building that was demolished thirty or forty years ago to make way for some new road or development. This would have been the very latest architectural style in its day.
