What's so wrong with Balloons?

Easter's blog post has been of interest to some people. What's so bad about balloons?

 

Is Easter a celebration? Yes. Does that mean actual joy? Yes. Is releasing balloons a way of marking joy? In our culture, yes. So what is my problem?

 

During worship, our minds should be focussed on Christ. Anything that distracts our hearts from Him is an impediment to our souls. Someone noisily eating sweets, another fidgeting, the leader of the meeting offering explanations for his every song choice. There is nothing wrong with any of these activities per se. During worship, however, such things are distractions. Releasing balloons during worship is a particular distraction, and therein lies my objection.
