Alder Buckthorn

This Alder Buckthorn bush, along with Common Buckthorn, is the sole food source for the Brimstone Caterpillar, and are mostly found in southern England. It seems odd, even perilous, that one species should so heavily rely on such a limited food source.

The true Christian derives satisfaction and comfort from many sources, including fellowship, service, generosity and prayer. Yet his sole source of food is God’s word. If you substitute it for anything else, even Christian company and music, expect to grow thin and weak.
