Conversions & Cons

It would seem that not all people are abandoning the Tories. North of the border, Lisa Cameron MP has recently quit the SNP for the Conservatives. As the BBC rather predictably reports:

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Scottish Tory leader Douglas Ross both welcomed Dr Cameron to the party, while SNP leader Humza Yousaf called on her to step down to allow a by-election.

What is more remarkable is Dr Cameron’s conversion from nationalism to unionism. The Tory Party’s full name is the Conservative and Unionist Party. Whether Cameron's is a real ideological conversion, or whether the SNP MP could see herself being deselected by party hacks before the next election, we cannot be certain. That a Damascus Road moment dazzled Dr Cameron so that she can now see the all advantages of the United Kingdom, is open to doubt.

I sometimes wonder at those who profess faith in Christ but then little comes of it; their love grows faint and the lifestyle barely changes. Some taste the truth but never ingest; some flirt with faith but never marry; some play games but never seriously consider. They want a saviour, but not a Lord. No Lordship, no salvation.

Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 28
