Festive Murder

"He was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder, but it has now turned into a murder investigation despite the efforts of medics to save the victim."

So said police after yesterday’s supermarket stabbing in Skipton. How many Christmases ruined? How many lives ruined? The victim’s. Her family’s. The witnesses’.
 
So much for peace and goodwill at Christmas. But then, the angels never promised that peace and goodwill would come from a festivity or season, but from a person- the Christ. Even during the festive period, we humans can not control our evil inclinations. We need a sin-bearing Messiah as much as ever.
