Foolpool

Whirlpool recently wrote to me, advising to take out an insurance policy against the dishwater I purchased two years ago, and which it manufactured. When I bought it, their website described how good the product was; now I have it, they warn me against breakdowns, expensive parts and sky-high labour charges. Perhaps they doubt their own products’ value, or their own manufacturing skills. It seems that I have more faith in the poor dishwaher than they, because I am certainly not paying them more money to ‘cover’ it for another two years.

All insurance policies cost us money, and, in the case of car policy renewals, excessive time. Thank God my soul is covered; the policy is often renewed at my end but never at God’s, and there are no expensive premiums to pay.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!

Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!

Heir of salvation, purchase of God,

born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

Perfect submission, all is at rest.

I in my Saviour am happy and bless’d,

watching and waiting, looking above,

filled with his goodness, lost in his love.
