Never Ruined a Day

Before one pushes out onto New South Wales’ Lake Macquarrie, a raft of safety notices must be read. One of them quite properly demands that users of the lake wear a life jacket. It offers the following piece of supportive information:

It never ruined a day on the water.

I guess a lifejacket’s absence has sometimes ruined not only a day on the water, but a lifetime thereafter. Following Christ, despite its hardships, trials and higher ethical demands, never ruined a life. Indeed, it only ever enhanced it. And when we do die, the spectacular welcome we shall receive into His presence will more than make up for any pains endured below.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:3, NKJV
