Unprophetable

I have just read Andrew Wilson’s Incomparable: Explorations in the Character of God. He takes many of God’s attributes and traces their Biblical development. Much of what he writes is truly wonderful, but I was perturbed by his section on Yahweh-Your-Healer, in which he includes a number of volumes for further reading, including John Wimber’s Power Healing. Wimber founded the Vineyard group of churches and prophesied that Europe’s biggest ever revival would come in 1990. The very opposite happened. Pointing Christians to John Wimber’s books is like inviting Harold Shipman to deliver a series of lectures to trainee doctors on medical ethics. Beware of good books that endorse bad teachers.

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. 2 Peter 2:1
