Borders Conference

I attended the Banner of Truth Borders Conference last week. Based at the Borders Kirk in Carlisle, men and women from both sides of Hadrian’s Wall, and the Irish Sea, gathered for meat and fellowship. I knew not many there, but was pleased to sit with 3 young men I knew, two of whom had entered our pulpit at Salem. We drew lessons from Spurgeon and the Downgrade Controversy, led by Paul Yeulett of Camberwell, while David Campbell of North Preston spoke of James Gilmour, missionary to Mongolia, who may have seen but one local convert in all his years’ ministry. David Pfeiffer, a Presbyterian minister of Cheltenham, expounded well God’s word, and I went home rejoicing in the gospel. Is not that the best response to having attended a Christian conference?
