More Know Tom Fool than Tom Fool Knows

Social media is rather remarkable. Regulars at Salem Chapel may know that I gave notice of resignation at work back in January, to take effect at the close of this month. I have been a schoolteacher for 22 years, nearly eighteen of which have been at my current establishment. I leave with many fine memories, friendships and experiences, but the time to depart was right. Interestingly, my social media feeds have daily contained adverts from schools or academy trusts seeking new teachers. I have not searched for new teaching posts, so how have the algorithms found me out? Perhaps the ads were there all along but I never paid attention. Perhaps I did idly search for a new teaching post without any thought, and which I cannot now remember. Of what we may be certain, however, is that 'more know Tom Fool than Tom Fool knows'.

I once heard of certain Hindu nationalists in India having a room on the walls of which were pinned the photographs and personal details of all Christian pastors and missionary organisations operating in their district. I suspect that our spiritual enemy, who has infinitely more resources and wit than Hindu nationalists, knows every Christian, pastor and faithful church very well indeed. This is a most disturbing thought, so it is always worth remembering that:

You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4, NKJV
