Opening the Gift

Ah, what was it I had to do last night? Open presents. I had forgotten, twice. Each one was skilfully unwrapped, the paper to be carefully preserved until next year's re-use. Cherry preserves, vitamin tablets, books, tie holders: all useful, or delightful, or both. Thanks were emailed off to kindly donors, items neatly put away to their respective stations, cards attached to gifts properly displayed. One thing about opening presents late is the great picture of so many of our lives. From our early years we opened Christmas gifts, but it was, for many of us, in our later years that we opened, loved and embraced the Christmas gift.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
