Self-Seeding Honesty

Self-seeded, and growing in a backyard pot, is a rather splendid Honesty flower. It adds a pleasing dash of lilac to the masonry by which it stands. A mother plant must have sown its seed there last year, and this is the result. Honesty begets honesty, deceit begets deceit. The gospel tells us the plain truth, and its transformative powers make us trustworthy, reliable, and honest. Lies only make us more prone to deceive, for when the truth is not in us, we deceive even ourselves.

“If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:31a-32, NKJV
