West Midlands Police: Thought Crime & Prayer Crime

Many of us were shocked by the conduct of West Midlands Police who arrested Isabel Vaughan-Spruce late last year. Although she had entered a censorship zone around one of Birmingham’s abortion clinics, she was merely praying in her head while standing on a street. When police asked her what she was doing, she told them, and they promptly arrested her. Apparently, her silent prayer was deemed ‘intimidating’. Although the Crown Prosecution Service proved itself more intelligent than West Midlands Police by dropping the charges, that Force is surely more intimidating than anything that poor woman got up to in the environs of the clinic. Beware, good people of Birmingham. Your local police will arrest you for your thoughts and for silently praying to your God. Shame on them.
