10p Off Your Next Go-Cat Kitten

I found a coupon while sorting out some papers. It entitled me to 10 pence off my next purchase of Friskies Go-Cat Kitten food at Asda. In these days of economic uncertainty, every little helps. Unfortunately, the coupon expired on 31 December, 1992. If I attempted to buy my kitten food using it this morning, I suspect that the cashier who would have to refuse me would not have been born when the coupon was issued. Thankfully, I have no kitten, so I am none the worse.

Christ’s offer of sins’ forgiveness and eternal life is more generous than that coupon, but it too has an expiry date. That date is the day you die. The moment you leave the body and enter the spiritual dimension, the voice with which to call on Him will be gone, the window of opportunity tragically missed. King Herod Agrippa II was almost persuaded by Paul’s gospel preaching, but he delayed and tarried. There are many denizens of hell who thought themselves too busy to get right with their Maker. Now they have ample opportunity to reflect on what might have been theirs, if only they has asked on time.

“When you make a vow to the Lord your God, you shall not delay to pay it; for the Lord your God will surely require it of you, and it would be sin to you". Deuteronomy 23:21
