Grabbing Greedland

I try to avoid writing about current events. Such comments date very quickly, and I suspect that readers of this blog come looking for spiritual comfort or distraction rather than analysis of the contemporary world scene. With my viewpoint they may not always agree, but occasionally, it behoves me to offer comment.
There seems to be strange things afoot. The current American President has publicly shared his designs on Greenland, and there may well be a breaking of the NATO alliance as one member state invades the territory of another. But last night, he changed his mind, so that's alright then. The BBC reports that even Canada is beginning preparations for a possible US invasion. Recently, a Central American head of state was arrested bu US troops and taken to court, though I suspect that there was a good case for this.
There is much about Mr Trump that I like: he stands up for persecuted Christians, the unborn and even offers candid advice to His Majesty’s government, which it needs to hear. Yet Mr Trump also increasingly appears to be another Nimrod, a mighty hunter, an empire-builder. Nebuchadnezzar modelled himself on that earliest world tyrant, while Roman emperors tried to emulate great Alexander, the imperialist-extraordinaire who absorbed even old Neb’s former territories. We have seen it all before, and shall continue to witness strong men heading nations consume others until such time as the True King returns, to whom all the earth and its people owe obedience and obeisance, even though they now defy Him.
Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him. Psalm 2:10-12
