Greedy for Gain

My email account’s junk box remains a valuable source of genuine emails (such as a police gun licence reference request) as well as the usual, fraudulent rubbish. How about these two corkers? Firstly, the thief:

Greetings marsden,

Following my mega jackpot winning, I have since decided to make charitable contributions in memory of my deceased wife. It gives me great pleasure to notify you of your selection as a beneficiary of my private donations. This mega donation is made to enable you to strengthen your personal issues and generously extend a helping hand to the less privileged, orphans and charity organizations within your locality. Should you wish to accept, forward your message of acceptance in response to this email for more information.

Regards.

Ronald Palmer

Secondly, the seductress:

A dinner for two! I've read that you can hire a chef to cook the food in your own kitchen at home. I would like to try that. So no restaurant but just you and me at my house. What do you think? Have a nice night together, you and me? I actually found a chef who does this, and it wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. So what do you say to do it for a weekend so we can have some time for ourselves when the chef has served the dessert and gone home? Do you want to meet me? It would be very nice then. I want to be with you. Here I am and there is a picture of me, why you want to see them too? http://XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX if you feel like it? Am looking forward to meeting you. Hug. MeANDmy

Satan, and these numbskulls unwittingly in his employ, know that the easiest way to bring a good man down is via money and sex. Thankfully, these two emails are so general and poorly written that anyone with even a modicum of sense wouldn’t fall for them. Yet how many of us spend our lives pursuing lucre and pleasure? Those to whom they are unachievable remain unfulfilled and disappointed; those who obtain them remain unfulfilled and disappointed. Only Christ is the Prize worth winning, the goal worth achieving, the life worth living.

So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; It takes away the life of its owners. Proverbs 1:19
