King of Canada

I was pleased to learn that His Majesty the King is appointed to open in person the Canadian Parliament later this month, the first time the monarch has done so since the late Queen in 1977. This will show support for Canada in the face of belligerent rumbles coming from its southern border. Although the good people of Canada have weirdly seen fit to re-elect the Liberal Party after Justin Trudeau’s abysmal record, the King and Queen’s presence will be seen as a gesture of support from the Motherland.

Just as the late Queen was never slow to attend places of disaster, such as Potters Bar and Aberfan, the presence of a monarch, as opposed to a politician who seeks votes and popularity, often raises morale and assures people that they are not forgotten. I am always encouraged by what we read in Acts 23:11, when the Apostle Paul was feeling dispirired:

And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

If Charles III will encourage his Canadian people by simply being among them, how much King Jesus when He dwells in and by His followers, even in their darkest hours. You are not alone.
