Roger’s Reflection

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well’. 3 John

Tucked in, near the end of the Bible are a number of postcard books.  Three were written by Jesus’ youngest disciple, John.  The third one only has 14 verses.  John is writing a note to his dear friend (he calls him that four times) Gaius.  And in the greeting he shows concern for both his physical and spiritual well being.  At this time especially, we are rightly concerned about our health of body and mind. But it is vital to ensure that our soul is well.  I take comfort in the fact that Jesus came to deal with all that would make me fear.  He came to offer forgiveness for the past, His presence with us in the present, and a Home with Him in eternity.  He gives these to us as we receive them, or rather, Him into our hearts. John’s prayer is my prayer for you.

To lose one’s wealth is much;

To lose one’s health is more;

To lose one’s soul is such

That nothing can restore.
