Bee Fed

I have already written about Giant Scabeous, of which the picture above is a handsome example. Yet here, a honey bee samples its delights and feasts upon its nectar. Reincarnation is an eastern myth which belies the truth of our dying once and facing the judgement, but the life of a bee strikes me as rather winsome. It wakes each morning and goes around all the gardens feeding itself and then returns to it community to build and expand. Is this not a picture of the Christian life? The name of the Hebrew judge, Deborah, means ‘bee’:

Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam. Judges 5:12

Let us eat, grow, build and expand; see you at church.
