Blocked Drains

As I recently walked about Lower Darwen, I observed a torrent of water running down the main road. The rain had been substantial but not heavy, yet the little flood was so great I could scarce walk alongside it without a passing vehicle soaking me. One of the reasons soon became apparent: the drains were blocked. Gravel, vegetation and other detritus had jammed them; the excess water therefore carried on merrily down the steam. Had he local council been less feckless, they might have better maintained them. Presumably, the situation will get far worse before anyone sees fit to do something about it.

It is always best to keep short accounts, to deal with issues before they worsen and deteriorate. Go and mend that relationship, heal that wound, cleanse that soul.

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Psalm 51:7

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Ps 51:10
