Bore Off

I attended a training course recently. I had the misfortune of sitting next to a bore. He liked nothing better than talking about himself. Whatever the discussion, he could delve into his vast supply of anecdotes, neatly steering the conversation back to the world’s most important person. On those occasions when the presenters were talking, he would loudly turn the pages of his course booklet, as though he wanted us to be fully aware of his earnest studying and devotion to the course objectives. 9/10s of the way through, he suddenly got up and left, announcing he had somewhere else to be.

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Phil 2:3
