Britain's Sectarian Divisions

We used to think that the Green Party was nice but dim. As the other, major political parties began absorbing its environmental agenda in the eighties and nineties, the Greens sought additional unique selling points. Hence it is the only formally republican party in Parliament, and it seems to be the furthest left of the lot. I am not sure it is possible be more leftwing than a communist, but I wonder if the British Greens are beginning to manage it. The solid Green victory last month in the Gorton and Denton by-election in Greater Manchester has set many hearts aflutter, not least our hapless Prime Minister’s, who has just lost a safe Labour seat. Then again, the smaller parties would be less able to pull off such a feat in a general election, as their small bands of devotees and activists would be spread too thin. Their successful candidate, and now Member of Parliament, received overwhelming support from Gorton’s Muslim populace, while White Denton seems to have gone for Reform, leaving Labour in third place and the Tories in no place at all.
Pundits are starting to worry, though. ‘Sectarianism’, ‘religious loyalties’, ‘antisemitism’ are all terms being employed to account for the result. According to the Daily Telegraph:
Trupti Patel, the president of the Hindu Forum of Britain, has claimed Zack Polanski’s party tried to exploit tensions in the South Asian diaspora after it circulated an Urdu language campaign video that featured a picture of Sir Keir Starmer shaking hands with Narendra Modi, the Indian prime minister.
The Greens were certainly playing the Gaza-Israel card to full effect. The old left-right axis and class based divisions seem to be dying, along with the two-party system. I would not be surprised if another Islamic Party of Britain is founded to try and benefit from this politico-religious alignment, capitalising on our opinionated, religious minorities. Using the ballot box, the vociferous Islamic community will begin to employ Britain’s democratic system to alter domestic laws and foreign policies. Ironically, the ‘useful idiots’ of the liberal left, whose values are utterly incompatible with Islamic conservatism and intolerance, will be the first to go.
Come, Lord Jesus!
