Chirk's Aqueduct, Tunnel & Viaduct

After the town of Chirk in Clwyd are named two imposing and useful structures: the aqueduct and the viaduct. I had the pleasure of walking beneath them and upon one of them, with both offering impressive views of the surrounding countryside. Although the Ceiriog Valley over which they span is beautiful enough, these graceful, manmade structures somehow add a sense of awe and wonder.

Jesus Christ is both the way to God (via) and the water of life (aqua). One can behold Him from afar and admire Him, even drawing close to Him. Yet Paul and Silas, while urging the Philippian Jailer not to end his life, said:

“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house”. (Acts 16:31, AV)

Are you building your life on Him or just around Him? I could take my point further and allude to the Chirk Tunnel which begins at the aqueduct’s northern end: are you found in Him?

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Romans 8:1
