Chives

Chives bear beautiful, purple flowers. Their green stalks can be chopped up and put in our foods to add flavour. The Roman writer Martial cautioned moderation, however:

He who bears chives on his breath,

Is safe from being kissed to death.

Furthermore, they are among the top ten nectar-producing flowers in the UK, according to the AgriLand Project. As our bee populations continue to dwindle, chives are a wonderful plant to grow in our gardens. They are good for bees and good for people.

I know Christians who read much and know much, but share little. What is good for you, is good for others. Feed yourselves, as well as your brethren. Be chives.
