Doubly Thankful Arkholme

I spoke this evening at Capernwray Evangelical Church. On my journey I passed through the fair village of Arkholme, situated in the Lune Valley. This is an unusual village, for in it you will find no war memorial. It's one of a handful of Thankful Villages, those places that safely received home every one of its sons that went off to fight in the First World War. In fact Arkholme sent off 59, a large number. It lost none to the Second World War either, hence it is a Doubly Thankful Village
