Fake Admirals & Fake Women

The Daily Telegraph reports that Jonathan Carley, the 65-year-old history teacher who dressed up as a Royal Navy Admiral and attended a Remembrance event in north Wales, was sentenced by a court of law last week. The District Judge fined him £500 as well as the usual £85 costs and £200 surcharge. For pretending to be something he was not, he was convicted and fined, and rightly so.

Yet at the same time, men dressing up as women and pretending to be females is not only tolerated but actively encouraged and celebrated by government, Parliament, celebrities, big business, local government and all the rest. Does no-one detect the irony?
