Glory of the Snow

Snow fell this week, despite the warm spell at the end of March. On cars and gardens were left the little white depsoits of frozen water. Chionodoxa, or Glory of the Snow is another of those pretty spring bulbs which loves to flower while much else is still waking.

In Psalm 51, David pleads:

Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

The glory of God’s redeemed people will not be found in the crowns they shall wear, nor the dazzling brilliance they shall inhabit. Rather, it will be the purity and holiness of their blood-washed souls, washed bright and clean by the Lamb’s atoning work. To be Christ-like and pure is what each true Christian desires: God’s glory is his joy.
