Hallelujah

Jewish Canadian poet and singer, Leonard Cohen, went to meet his Judge today. Most famous for his song Hallelujah with its biblical allusions, this man with a modest singing voice became an iconic musician.

‘Hallelujah’ is one of those words which is known by many but understood by few. It’s best translated as Praise ye the LORD. The Jah or Yah is the first syllable of God’s personal name, Yahweh or Jehovah. Hence it is an acclamation of praise to God, addressed by those who known Him personally and are on first-name terms.

I suspect we’ll hear this phrase frequently in heaven.
