Heath Bedstraw
Heavily grazed grasslands. Heaths. Bogs. Bare, rocky places. Moorland. Grassy hill slopes. Acidic soils. Dry, low-nutrient soils.
This list of habitats does not sound promising, but it is ideal for the little white blooms of Heath Bedstraw. It grows and flourishes where no other plant can survive. So too, the Church of God. From Islamist executions, Communist imprisonments, Romanist bonfires and Western apathy- from each one shall the Bride of Christ be delivered. So too the Christian. Over hostile relations, woke workplaces, godless culture and home-made sin, will the true believer triumph, while flourishing and bearing fruit.
’Mid toil and tribulation,
And tumult of her war,
She waits the consummation
Of peace for evermore;
Till, with the vision glorious,
Her longing eyes are blest,
And the great Church victorious
Shall be the Church at rest.
