Oxford's Spluttering Candle

I went down to Oxford last month, and stood where Bishops Ridley and Latimer paid for their faith in Jesus Christ. Before the Lord received them into glory, they endured a painful death, fried in the flames of Bloody Mary. Said Bishop Latimer to his fellow victim:

"Play the man, Master Ridley; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England as, I trust, shall never be put out!"

That candle today splutters and flickers, but by God's grace, it hasn't yet been snuffed.
