Red Clover
This is Trifolium pratense, or red clover, what I always called purple. It is a common enough sight; I found plenty of it growing in the fields about my home. The International Journal of Mid-life Health and Beyond published a paper in 2014 presenting evidence that extracts from the flower alleviate the effects of hot flushes in postmenopausal females. This difficult time for women is unlikely to be appreciated by men (including those men who now pretend to be women), and it is emotionally as well as physically difficult. Yet for Sarah, that difficult period of her life was the most exciting and productive:
Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. Genesis 18:11
Youth and fertility do not define a woman’s worth. Taking Red Clover or not, may those later years be a time in which, like the great Sarah, we better know the Lord and fulfil His purposes and designs.
